Facts about SSV

What is SSV?

SSV is a 1/8” thick, acrylic solid surface material, distributed by Wilsonart International, Inc. SSV material must be bonded (glued) to a wooden substrate material, then finished on the edges.

I have a solid surface countertop; how do I know whether it ’s SSV?

Start by looking under the countertop in the sink area, or pull out a drawer and look under the countertop. SSV is bonded to a wood substrate, unlike ½” solid surface material.

If you have an integral sink, check the side drop into the bowl to see if the deck material (what’s on the countertop) is 1/8” thick and is bonded to a wood substrate. If the deck is ½” thick, you have conventional solid surfacing, which is not SSV, and is not covered by this settlement. For more information click here.
